Artist: She Wants Revenge
Venue: Irving Plaza, NYC, NY
Date: April 4, 2006
See below for my first exposure to SWR. I went to the show already fearing the worst, since I had by now listened to their album a few times and realized that they were completely a one-trick pony, that was itself ripped straight from Interpol’s books (with much less technical skill). I get to the venue, and it’s jam-packed with high school kids. Uh oh. The openers come on and it’s a young group (maybe just out of high school themselves), and they perform their songs jumping about wildly on stage. Uh oh again (see way below for Alex and I’s theory about bands that dance about a whole lot on stage). They pretty much sucked. SWR comes on. Wearing the same outfits as last time. The singer is gyrating his hips so much this time that it hurts to look at. Midway through the second song, I leave. What a waste of $20. Note to self: try not to buy tickets on an impulse before really hearing someone’s album.
