Concert Review: Dresden Dolls

Friday, October 28th, 2005

Artist: Dresden Dolls
Venue: Webster Hall, NYC, NY
Date: October 28, 2005
THIS is the way a show should be. Lots of theatrical playing, an acrobatic dancer on two tightropes hanging from the ceiling above the crowd, a quick Pantera live cover on acoustic guitar, and a mini-orchestra conducted by a mad surgeon/psycho killer with enough blood on […]

Concert Review: Ambulance LTD

Artist: Ambulance LTD
Venue: Bowery Ballroom, NYC, NY

Wow these guys looked and sounded really tired from the git go. Apparently, this was their last show on this tour, and they were all happy to be back in NY. They did a fairly ho-hum run of most of their album, and that was that.

One more reason why NYC rocks

Wednesday, October 26th, 2005

Artist: Mates of State
Venue: Bowery Ballroom, NYC, NY
Date: October 20, 2005
My first show where the main singers were a husband-wife duo–and boy did it add a lot! Almost as exciting as their music (which was perfectly executed live) was watching the two of them exchange glances of love (I presume) throughout the show. The passion […]

Concert Review: The Perceptionists

Artist: The Perceptionists
Venue: Bowery Ballroom, NYC, NY

My first show in New York with some company (Rob & Sheila)–I’m glad they came because there were many openers and none that great. The first were this trio, front-man rapper, female-backup-vocalist, turntablist. They had some good beats (nothing live though), the main rapper sucked, and […]

Before I completely forget this great concert, I’m gonna fill in some quick notes:Akron/Family: An amazing show by these 4 guys (are they actually a family?). One of them looked like he was possessed or speaking in tongues. Their part of the show […]
