Artist: Royksopp

Venue: Webster Hall, NYC, NY

Date: September 21, 2005

Excited to see this duo live after listening to their new album nonstop for the past few days, I was appropriately happy after the concert. While nothing special, it was simply a good, mindless, enjoyable concert. As befitting their music, the venue was a large dance hall, with 2 levels and 3 bars (set on top of a bar in the lower level). The crowd was an older one, dressing nicely and with hot dance partners. Virtually everyone was dancing, whether it was merely head and leg shaking like me, or all-out twitchfests from some near the front. Royksopp came out in nice red (silk?) shirts and black pants, and proceeded to rock out for the next hour and half. They looked funny because they looked rather square. I would never have said they were musicians from looking at them, but appearances are deceiving, I guess (after all who would guess some stuff about me from my looks? ;-)). They played a good mix from their two cds, including the best mix of “Remind Me.” For their encore they played some new songs I hadn’t heard before, and which I’m not sure were their songs or someone else’s. Nothing much else to add about this concert, as it was simply a engaging performance of their tracks, with not much difference from their studio albums, but still quite enjoyable.
