Title: His Girl Friday

Before the moderately innovative dialogue of every “good girl’s” favorite Gilmore Girls, there were drab sitcoms with stale lines. But even before that, there was His Girl Friday, with an average of 240 words-per-minute of dialog (compared to 90ish for conventional movies). Non-stop jokes mixed in with a fair amount of action and a surprisingly deep grasp of human nature and politics make for a great movie. The great cast helps, as do the nonchalant reeling-off of hundreds of jokes at once without waiting for the audience to react (argh laugh tracks piss me off so much). While remaining conventional in many respects, His Girl Friday nevertheless shows that it understands human motivations much better than most of the tripe out there.
