Thoughts without reason

Disorganized thoughts about music and science and film and philosophy and literature and…

I started reading the blog of one of Tim’s favorite sci-fi authors: William Gibson. I have yet to read anything by him, but I plan on getting right on it soon. In any case, this is the first blog I’ve seen written by a self-professed centrist, or one who said that he’d be fine “with a decent centrist Republican as president.” And I was very impressed by his rationality, his balance, and his recognizance of how what Bush is pursuing is most definitely not what most conservatives want any more than what liberals want. I’d highly recommend reading his blog, as he links to several very interesting articles, especially some of which focus on Bush’s “Faith-based” ruling of the country (and world, for that matter).

In particular, this article by Ron Suskind in the New York Times Magazine highlights exactly what this faith-based (and therefore completely non-rationality-based) is and has caused. It’s a long article (10 pages), but it’s well worth the read, and even just the first page will give you an excellent idea of what he’s talking about.
