The Tampa Tribune, has published an article entitled Why We Cannot Endorse President Bush For Re-Election. Hardly the liberal bastion of Florida, the Tribune has (as they themselves state in the beginning of the article) “endorsed a Republican for president ever since Dwight D. Eisenhower in 1952, with one exception.”

While it may come as no surprise to many that they criticize his foreign policy, what is perhaps its strongest indictment is of Bush’s “failure to control federal spending.” As “lower government spending” is one of the pillars on which conservatism is built, this charge will be, I think, the one that is most likely to sway their (presumably conservative) audience.
